Each racer will race once down each side of the track. His fastest time between the two races will be kept. Races are timed down to the .000 second. There will be several opportunities to mold and shape the block of pinewood into a lean / mean well-decorated racing machine. The boys are not permitted to use power tools but they are encouraged to design the shape of their cars, sand them, and decorate them accordingly. Decorating the car is completely up to the imagination of the scout. Parents are encouraged to assist their scout, but they should let the scout do most of the work. There will be (2) workshop and yes, scouts can work on their cars at home as well. The workshops are designed so scouts can pick a design or if they have a design already, get their cars cut. Cars will be available for sell starting in December. The cost is $5.00. You may also purchase directly from the Scout Shop along with decals. Only items with the BSA logo can be used if purchased online or at Michael's.
